The Shimano XT M8100 MTB XC disc brake

Servo Wave
The Shimano Servo-Wave technology optimizes the lever travel of the brake lever. During braking, the brake pads are quickly guided to the brake disc with a very short lever travel. The larger part of the lever travel is reserved for the actual braking force. This enables a more targeted dosage of the braking force.

I-Spec EV
I-SPEC EV creates a clean, action-optimized cockpit layout that helps more riders to be more focused and more flexible. Thanks to the larger adjustment range, the I-SPEC EV levers can be placed in the optimal position for a wide variety of riding styles (ENDURO, XC, etc.), rider preferences and rider anatomy (hand and arm position).

On the I-SPEC EV, the brake clamps are positioned further inwards. This creates an additional contact point between the handlebar and the brake lever, which increases the stiffness of the lever. This additional support significantly improves control of the bike and braking effect. There is space between the clamp and the support point for additional accessories mounted on the handlebar.

one-way venting
ONE WAY BLEEDING was developed to quickly and easily prevent air from entering the hydraulic system. Shimano has optimized the path of the brake fluid throughout the system to prevent air bubbles from becoming trapped in the system.
The one-way mineral oil flow path, together with the filling funnel, allows for clean, problem-free venting.

J-Kit
J-Kit makes it easy to connect the brake line to hydraulic brakes from Shimano and therefore to install the brake. The brake does not come pre-assembled (brake line not yet installed) to make it easier to lay the line in the frame. The brake line on the Shimano J-Kit brakes is already filled with mineral oil and sealed with a thin membrane. There is a small pin in the J-Kit brake lever that pierces this membrane during installation so that the oil can flow.
