A new breed of trail bike

Of course you can decide whether you want to continue with the status quo or go a different route. With the new Status 140, Specialized opts for the latter. The result? Not just a new bike, but a whole new platform that changed their entire understanding of what an all-rounder can actually do.

But what about the different wheel sizes? Glad you asked. Combine the shorter wheelbase and chainstays of a 27.5″ rear wheel with the increased traction and rollover of a 29″ front wheel and you have a bike that can throw you down any line. But you can also see it as the ability to quickly plow through the flat right-hand bend, only to have breakfast on the technical hairpin turn on the left shortly afterwards, to pull random straights in the longer than expected rock garden without a drop of sweat, or to have a lot of tact on your flow trails and show off your style. And all with a single platform.

The Status 140 adopts Specialized's riding style-specific sizing to not only provide you with the perfect frame size, but also the desired reach and wheelbase for your preferred handling.

• The high-quality chassis generates enormous speeds downhill. To ensure that you arrive safely at the bottom, the proven Code R brakes from SRAM take care of the deceleration. The forged 4-piston calipers offer incredible stopping power, while 200mm diameter brake discs front and rear make fading a thing of the past
