Uvex Race 8 helmet

Less air turbulence, optimal ventilation properties, maximum energy savings – the uvex race 8 is the essence of a perfected time trial helmet. And makes professional triathletes a few seconds faster.

The long distance is the premier class of triathlon. A few seconds decide whether you are at the top of the podium or not. What is important here? The right tools. The new uvex race 8 is one of them and has already impressed top athletes such as Timo Bracht, Laura Philipp and the 2017 Challenge Roth winner: Bart Aernouts. The helmet was developed by uvex engineers and the athletes of the BMC Etixx Pro Triathlon Team.

With the help of German triathlete Laura Philipp, the uvex race 8 was further optimized. To improve aerodynamics, it has a shortened teardrop shape. Specially arranged dimples, depressions like those found on golf balls, are placed on the sides of the helmet shell. They reduce air resistance and prevent turbulence. The front ventilation opening is placed at the point of maximum dynamic pressure. This directs the airflow around and through the helmet. The magnetic visor in litemirror smoke (S1) can be operated with one hand, fits completely into the helmet and closes seamlessly. When not in use, it can simply be placed in a specially designed parking position on the helmet. The shape of the helmet optimally shields the shoulder area and the air flows out of the back of the head and back with little turbulence. Measurements in the wind tunnel with the uvex race 8 show a significant saving in energy and time. The higher the speed, the greater the number of watts saved.
