The SRAM RED eTap® shift lever

SRAM was inspired by Formula 1 when developing the SRAM RED® eTap®. Their switching logic virtually eliminates interconnections and the switching process is precise, fast and easy.

Higher speed through consistent simplification

The idea behind the whole concept: higher speed through consistent simplification. The right lever switches to the larger, the left to the smaller gear. And you can control the chainrings via both levers. SRAM's ErgoFit shift lever connects the driver and the wheel in one unit. This allows you to adjust the grip width to your personal preferences with the Reach Adjust ™ technology. You will switch more often, but faster and effortlessly. The ErgoBlade levers made of carbon and the wide SRAM eTap © buttons keep you in control of your bike.

Highlights

  • Wireless connection through the AIREA ™ network for quick and clean installation
  • ErgoBlade levers provide reliable control
  • No switching errors due to the eTap switching logic and feedback of the rockers

Applied technologies

In this chapter, we explain the technologies that the manufacturer uses for this product.

ETAP

Wireless switching, energy management of batteries and mechatronics - SRAM's RED eTAP technology serves one goal: to provide you with the most intuitive operation possible. The switching logic behind it calls SRAM as eTAP. The right lever switches to the larger, the left to the smaller gear. And both levers together move the derailleur. Simple, smooth and intuitive. This switching logic is called eTap.

AIREA ™

eTap® switching signals are transmitted using 128-bit encryption. It uses SRAM's proprietary wireless protocol, called AIREA. Each time an eTap group is paired, a new encryption key is generated and assigned to the involved components of that group. This ensures safe and undisturbed switching at all times.
