Road bike power with comfort
Relief in the seat area: SR Men. Flat, but still comfortably padded. The shape and the relief channel with a low-lying opening fit exactly to the male anatomy in the bent-over seating position typical of racing bikes. The sensitive perineal area is effectively relieved, thus preventing sitting problems. OrthoCell® inlays in the seat area ensure the best pressure distribution - the new OrthoCell® material provides maximum resilience and is also more durable and lighter than gel.
The new Ergon road bike saddle for men. For anatomical reasons, men sit relatively upright on the saddle in the pelvic area. This creates increased pressure in the very sensitive perineal area, which often ends in a variety of sitting problems.
This is exactly where the relief principle of the SR Men saddles comes into play. Due to the sloping relief channel with relief opening, the resulting pressure is distributed to the bony structures (sitting bones and parts of the pubic bone runners). The Y-shape ensures the best possible freedom of movement when pedaling in the typical racing bike seating position.
Technologies used
In this chapter we explain the technologies that the manufacturer uses in this product.
The delicate nervous system
Due to the deep channel, the perineal area is relieved, blood flow and oxygen supply are not restricted - often the trigger for numbness and other impairments.
Numbness in men when cycling is often caused by high pressure in the sensitive perineal area. The external genitals are seldom the cause of complaints, since they can move away and are not compressed by bony structures.
pressure distribution
It all depends on the right distribution of pressure. With men's saddles, pressure must be shifted to the sit bones and parts of the pubic arches and the perineal area must remain as pressure-free as possible. This is exactly how the relief surface of the new Ergon men's saddles works.
pelvic tilt
The male pelvis is less flexible compared to females. This means that men sit more upright on the saddle and put more strain on their sit bones. As a result, the transition area between the rear and the nose of the saddle can be kept narrow (Y-shape). This gives you more freedom to pedal.
pubic angle
In contrast to the female anatomy, the pubic bones are much steeper in men and the pubic symphysis is much higher.
The right size
The shape and size of the seat surface of a saddle must match the distance between the rider's sit bones.
Since the pelvic bones taper forward in a V-shape, the saddle must be able to offer the sit bones a sufficiently large contact surface for different sitting positions. The saddle widths are chosen so that the usable seat surface corresponds to the distance between the sit bones.
The more bent over a rider sits, the further forward the sit bones touch the saddle.
