Experience and knowledge
After more than two years of development, the Maxxis ASSEGAI is finally here! Greg Minnaar's signature tire is the essence of his 30 years of racing experience and Maxxis' expert knowledge from over 50 years of tire production.
“My idea was to design a tire from the best Maxxis profiles. I started in the middle with a combination of Minion DHF and Minion DHR II. The reason for this was that the surface of the DHF rolls well and holds onto hardpack, in greasy curves and on wet roots and stones. The DHR II rolls much better and can brake more aggressively.
Then I set out on an 'extra' stud that gives you more support and a constant feeling when you put the bike on the outer studs in the curve. This brings us to my favorite tire - the HighRoller. The Maxxis engineers and I reshaped the HighRoller side lugs so that it had pretty much the same properties as the original. But with the support of this extra stud you have the ultimate wingman when you rush hard into flat curves. In the end, I took over the tunnel height from the Shorty. The tunnels are well supported, so the raised profile can easily bite into forest soil and dry, dusty soils. "

2.60WT wide tires generally have a WT construction, but no WT marking on the tire sidewall.
Technologies used
In this chapter we explain the technologies that the manufacturer uses for this product.
3C MaxxGrip
The well-known 3C downhill mix that many of the best downhillers have trusted for years is now called 3C MaxxGrip. 3C MaxxGrip offers the ultimate grip and the best cushioning properties for incomparable traction on downhills.
3C Maxx Terra
The right 3C mixture for enduro and freeride tires. Ease of movement uphill and excellent grip downhill characterize this mixture as well as a long service life.
" EXO + Protection
The new EXO + construction combines two of the best puncture protection materials: SilkShield and EXO.
The SilkShield layer surrounds the entire tire from bead to bead, the EXO layer is mounted on the sidewalls. Together, the EXO + results in the following advantages:
27% better puncture protection on the tread *
51% more stable side wall *
28% more puncture protection *
* compared to the proven stable EXO carcass
Tires with EXO + Protection are built for aggressive trail riding and enduro races, and especially designed for the higher torque and weight of E-MTBs. First there are wide versions of the popular Minion DHF, Minion DHr II and Rekon with EXO + casings. "
Tubeless Ready (TR)
Tubeless tires have many advantages: You can drive with less air pressure. This gives you better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there is no hose, the risk of a breakdown also decreases. MAXXIS TR tires are better prepared for assembly with sealing milk than other "tubeless ready" tires. Like a real UST tubeless tire, the bead of the TR tire is completely covered with a rubber layer. As a result, tubing-free assembly is successful on all rims with standard dimensions when they are first inflated and with little liquid. “Normal” MAXXIS MTB tires can also be fitted with tubeless sealant like tires from other manufacturers, as the carcass fabric is very dense. Only the new MAXXIS TR models are officially approved for tubeless assembly and guaranteed by MAXXIS. The tubeless assembly of other models is at your own risk.
Wide trail casing
The Wide Trail (WT) construction optimizes the tread layout and tire shape on today's modern wider rims. Traditional tires are developed for narrow rims and are too angular in shape on wide rims and thus not exactly optimal performance. WT tires are optimized for an inner rim width of 35 mm, but work excellently on all rims with an inner dimension between 30 and 39 mm.
