In this chapter we explain the technologies that the manufacturer uses in this product.
MaxxSpeed
Our new MaxxSpeed mixture is clearly our best XC compound for XC racing. It is a high silica compound that reduces rolling resistance while improving wet grip. Compared to the current 3C MaxxSpeed, the rolling resistance in the laboratory test is around 25% lower (with the same profile, tire structure and air pressure). In racing use, this theoretically results in a time saving of up to one minute for a race duration of 90 minutes. .
EXO Protection
This extremely cut and abrasion-resistant material protects the sidewall of various MTB tires. It is very tightly woven, light and very flexible. As a result, the performance of the tires remains convincingly good.
EXO+ Protection
The new EXO+ construction combines two of the best puncture protection materials: SilkShield and EXO.
The SilkShield layer surrounds the entire tire from bead to bead, the EXO layer is mounted on the sidewalls. Together the EXO+ has the following advantages:
27% better puncture protection on the tread*
51% more stable sidewall*
28% more puncture protection*
* Compared to the proven, stable EXO carcass
Tires with EXO+ Protection are built for aggressive trail riding and enduro racing, and are particularly designed for the higher torque and weight of e-MTBs. First of all, there are wide versions of the popular Minion DHF, Minion DHr II and Rekon with EXO+ casings.
Tubeless Ready (TR)
Tubeless tires have many advantages: You can drive with less air pressure. This gives you better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there is no hose, the risk of a breakdown is reduced. MAXXIS TR tires are better prepared for assembly with sealant than other “Tubeless Ready” tires. The bead of the TR tires is completely covered with a layer of rubber, like a real UST tubeless tire. This means that tubeless installation is successful on all rims with standard dimensions the first time you inflate them and with little fluid. Even “normal” MAXXIS MTB tires can be mounted tubeless with sealant like tires from other manufacturers, as the carcass fabric is very dense. However, only the new MAXXIS TR models are officially approved for tubeless installation and guaranteed by MAXXIS. Tubeless assembly of other models is at your own risk.
