Carbon wheelset with high-end technology

Developed for riders looking for the ultimate in eMTB wheelset performance. Newly equipped with a carbon rim, the HXC 1501 Spline One is the top hybrid wheel in the DT Swiss range. The carbon rim is combined with a newly designed hub shell that offers better resistance to drive and braking torques, which are higher in modern eMTBs. With the new Ratchet EXP OS system with 30 teeth, the torque generated by the motor and driver is transmitted directly from the pedals to the ground. This transmission is made possible by reinforced spokes, so that even greater accelerations can be generated than with the earlier hybrid product range. Every component has been carefully developed, produced and tested to guarantee a stress-free ride and fun, regardless of the level of the driver.

Technologies used

In this chapter we explain the technologies that the manufacturer uses for this product.

Ratchet EXP OS
By using a single cylinder spring, there is less system wear, while a more complete meshing is made possible. With a full mesh of 30T, the power generated by the engine and driver is transmitted evenly over a wide contact area, resulting in superior reliability. A larger double thread distributes the loads over a larger area and thus reduces peak loads. This increases the service life of the system and even enables a higher torque to be transmitted. Larger bearings with larger balls rotate quickly and absorb the additional axial and radial forces of the eMTB better. The axle was tested in FEM analyzes in order to determine the bending load when driving an eMTB and to optimize the axle resistance.

Tubeless
All DT Swiss wheels are tubeless ready and the ASM versions are supplied with the tubeless tape and the corresponding valves fitted.

Pro lock
In the Pro Lock process, a two-component adhesive is injected into the nipple thread, which enables extremely durable impellers to be built. As soon as the nipples are screwed in, the adhesive is activated, which hardens completely after approx. 6 - 7 hours at room temperature. Repeated re-centering is possible without any problems, whereby the adhesive force decreases slightly with each re-centering.

Pressure angle
The pressure angle is the largest possible angle that the freewheel body can turn until the teeth of the freewheel body completely mesh and the hub shell is accelerated. In the opinion of DT Swiss, 36 intervention points represent the best optimization within the three-dimensional perspective in terms of reliability, weight and intervention points, taking into account factors such as suspension, maximum free travel (backlash) and pedal kickback.
