It's impossible to anticipate all the surprises the terrain has in store: steep climbs, sudden descents, dusty or rocky paths... Whatever its characteristics, the challenges it has in store for you, the new Crossmax XL S is with you at the start line! The best-in-class 29" aluminum alloy wheel uses many of the proven technologies that have long made Mavic the innovation leader in MTB wheels.
The rims are constructed using our Fore technology, including a fully sealed top bridge that eliminates the need for rim tape. This means each wheel weighs 30 grams less and the rider no longer needs to install rim tape before fitting a tubeless tire. The ISM machining applied to rims removes material at strategic points on the rim, reducing the weight of the rim without sacrificing strength. The rim, with an internal width of 30 mm, is optimized to help you get the most out of the most modern trail tires, and our Black Shield technology gives it a unique finish that ensures it is protected from scratches and abrasion.

To achieve the delicate balance between lateral stiffness and vertical flexibility, we use 24 straight spokes. The Infinity hub platforms benefit from a stiffer and lighter structure, further enhanced by the reliable ID360 quick engagement double ratchet system. This wheelset is designed for 6-bolt or Center Lock brake rotors and is compatible with Shimano HG9, SRAM XD and Micro Spline freehub bodies. It is available in 29" only and comes with UST tubeless valves, spare spokes and accessories.
